I’ve always wanted a chandelier in our bedroom. Unfortunately for me, the summers here in Texas mean temperatures stay in the 90s at night, and there ain’t no way either of us can sleep without the ceiling fan on. But I want, no, I need a chandelier in my room! I mean, doesn’t this picture from Country Living just make you want to crawl into that cozy bed with a good book?

Since the ceiling fan has to stay, I decided to integrate my chandelier fantasy into another part of the room. I found some relatively inexpensive chandeliers online ($125 for both, free shipping!) and transformed our bedroom into a luxurious and cozy getaway…

I hung each one from planter hangers mounted on the wall. I wanted to hide the cords of the lamps, so I knocked a hole in the wall (husband only freaked out a liiiitle bit – then I reminded him that he did the same thing for his beloved flat screen) and covered it with the ceiling mounting plate that came with the lamps. The cords come out of the wall behind our nightstands and plug in very discreetly to the outlets behind the bed.

I just love them! These hanging lamps give us symmetry, warm light, and the eye-appealing height the wall needed on either side of the bed. I love how the leaves in the bed frame carry over to the leaves of the chandeliers.

Once they were mounted, I added a light bulb, grabbed a book, and snuggled up in bed next to my new luxury lighting!

Now THAT is a really cool idea! I thought of lights mounted to the wall but not dangling. Best of all, no lamps taking up side table space!
Beautifully done! Enjoy your ’suite’.
And thanks for linking up to SNS #5!

This is a great idea! I could have written your post–I crave a chandi, but we live in FL–and also need our fans.
Fab idea – no space to take up on the night table…our bedside lamps are SO big – they look great, but I’m constantly struggling for space. They turned out pretty too, nice work
How romantic! I love these! I can’t imagine having the cajones necessary to knock a hole in the wall, though, let alone two. That’d be a job for the hubbs. Great idea, though.
P.S. — Your comment on my Thanksgiving post made my day! Yay for solidarity!
The hanging lamps and the chandelier are lovely. The only thing I’d worry about is having to dust. We have a small chandelier in our dining room, and it is a little bit of a pain. SITS sent me by, and I’m glad they did!

Well now. What a clever solution. Like you, I can’t give up my ceiling fans.
Dropped by from SITS.
Great idea. I have seen them mounted to walls or even hanging from the ceiling and rally love the idea of freeing up the night stans. I would love to have you post this to my party Its So Very Cheri

So romantic and very relaxing! Great idea!
Cool–I agree you can not do without the ceiling fan—we have them in our bedrooms. When I accidently broke one of the ceiling fans by shaking my spread to high(It hit the blades and they snapped!)–we had a catastrophe on our hands. My hubby went to replace the fan and he found that some wiring had gone through this spot and it had a junction box and all kinds of weird wiring!! He got it all straightened out and then clipped the wires too short to reach the new fan!! He gave up and taped off the wires and installed a light that is not hooked up—just so it looks ok. SO to make a long story short that room has no ceiling fan and we had to get a standing fan because we just have to have circulation!!! Someday we may have an electrictian fix it ….but we are afraid of all that it may entail since our wiring is so old.
Ooooo…loverly! I think I want some. Now.
P.P.S. — I left a little award for you on my blog. Come check it out!
oh, lordy..we would rather do without each other than our ceiling fans !! We live in Texas, too!! :O)
What a fun idea for your lights. They look great!!
Stunning! I love how the scroll work on the lights goes so well with your headboard too. Very pretty.
Fellow Texan and SITSta popping in to say hi! Those are gorgeous! I love them!
Love the lighting. Great idea. Genius. Laura @ the mansion
The first picture you have is one of my favorite bedroom pictures! I just saw your headboard to coat-rack, and it turned out amazing!! Great job!
Awesome idea and the chandeliers are cute too…
SITS hello…you are GOOD!
Love this! And I’m right there with you on the ceiling fan. They’re not the prettiest things ever, but when you live in Texas, they’re a necessity. Your idea is the perfect solution for adding the glimmer and shine of a beautiful chandelier while keeping the practical ceiling fan!
These are beautiful and that way you have them attached to the wall is genius!!! Love it!
Pretty!! Totally gives it a fancy/feminine touch.
they really look good, adds alot of romance
Wow Jenn…your home belongs in House Beautiful…for real.
Love the chandeliers and how creative you were in hiding the cords…too cool.
I love the finish on your walls…its that spanish lace? I’m just curious b/c that’s what most of our walls are and I am just HOPING that ours looks as pretty as yours:)
Very creative again! I love the look of the chandeliers you picked up.
Those are wonderful! Another brilliant stroke of ingenuity. I love the way you think! Those look so perfect in your room.
Those chandeliers look beyond awesome! Keep the creative juices flowing, girl.
